Last week at the fallout, 10/3, we journeyed through the activity entitled “the maze of steps”. Our final maze time was 38 minutes and 45 seconds. We did not beat the ultimate record, but we still had a grand old time.
We use this activity as a learning experience. The activity ran parallel to how we operate in life. The maze of steps illustrated that life is hard and at times confusing just as we experienced in the confusing maze. We know what the “right” steps are but we do know how or do not want to take them. The bottom line was that: Even though we get lost in life, we need to lean harder to the One who gives life, namely Jesus. Jesus paves the straight path. (Proverbs 3.4-5)
We surveyed the Biblical passage of Matthew 14.28-32 to illustrate how Peter stepped in the right direction towards Jesus but he was scared. Being a follower of Christ is not about a giant leap, but about a step in the right direction. However, like Peter taking the “right” step may be scary or uncomfortable. We take a step, and at times a uncomfortable step, to the One is the ultimate comforter.
The next two week student will be in their d-groups processing together what steps each of them need to take towards the cross.
Stay tuned………remember it is about a step, and not a leap.
